Momentum
June 5, 2023
Building a company with longevity can often be compared to getting a massive freight train to move. You’re adding cars to the train by building all the components of the product and you’re priming the engine by putting in place all the operational structures it takes to scale. Every little win, every small success, and the gears start to turn but it’s still slow going early on. The train crawls forward inch by inch and all the effort being put into it doesn’t seem to compare to the results. And then something changes, the train starts to pick up speed as its momentum pushes it forward further, faster than ever before. Soon enough, it can no longer be stopped.
We’re at the cusp of our momentum being able to throttle us forward and nearing the point where there’s no turning back. We were the fourth largest fundraise in NYC for all of May, no small feat. We have podcasts reaching out to us constantly asking to have us speak. When we go to conferences now there’s very few people who don’t know of us or haven’t heard of us. We get comments from those in the industry saying they feel like they see us everywhere. We have journalists now checking in on us to get our thoughts on what’s going on in the market and have us share our timely perspectives. And we’re getting coverage that’s better than we ever had before.
The outcome of all this is only positive for us. It’s brand building at its best and it just keeps growing from there. Organic sign ups from investors pick up because people see us in all the places they read and watch. Borrowers sign up because they were referred by someone who knew us or met us. Underwriters join because they have confidence in our abilities and we look bigger and more established than we are at this stage. Success begets success for the business itself and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Momentum, it’s a beautiful thing.
